Istanbul Technical University joins the TT4I Network as Technology Screening Partner
The Tech Transfer Facilities for Impact (TT4I) network continues to grow with Istanbul Technical University (ITU) joining as a new Technology Screening Partner. The collaboration further strengthens the network’s presence in Türkiye and expands its capacity to identify promising technologies with potential for wider application and societal impact.
As one of Türkiye’s long-established technical universities, ITU brings a strong research, innovation and technology transfer environment to the network. Its entrepreneurship and innovation structures connect research with industry and support technology transfer and commercialisation. Led by Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, whose experience spans national research and innovation policy as well as international technology cooperation, ITU combines this technology-transfer capacity with a clear commitment to addressing societal needs through science and technology. This creates a strong fit with the objectives of Impact Licensing.
Within TT4I, ITU will focus on technology screening, drawing on technologies emerging from its faculties, departments, research centres and laboratories, including results developed through university–industry collaboration and national and European research and innovation programmes. The screening will explore additional use cases, target groups and deployment contexts where Impact Licensing could be relevant. Priority areas identified for this collaboration include climate and environmental technologies, energy and clean technologies, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, advanced and sustainable materials, mobility and transportation technologies, and digital and AI-enabled technologies with potential for environmental or societal impact.
The collaboration builds on the first TT4I partnership established in Türkiye earlier this year with ÜSİMP. While ÜSİMP contributes a broad national network and brokerage role across university–industry cooperation structures, ITU brings direct access to a major research and technology pipeline. Together, these partnerships strengthen the network’s ability to identify and advance technologies from Türkiye and connect them with wider deployment opportunities.
With ITU joining, the TT4I network continues to develop as an international infrastructure connecting technology owners, intermediaries and deployment partners around impact-oriented technology transfer.
