ILI Joins International Innovation Support Panel at EU-13 Roadshow in Cyprus

As part of the EU-13 Roadshow’s event in Nicosia, the Impact Licensing Initiative (ILI) joined a panel of key international actors to discuss innovation support services and emerging approaches to valorising intellectual assets. Organised by the European IP Helpdesk and hosted by the University of Cyprus, the event attracted over 60 participants from across the research and innovation (R&I) community, creating a valuable space for cross-border learning and collaboration.

Bruno Vandermeulen represented ILI in the international panel discussion, which featured speakers from the European Patent Office, European Union Intellectual Property Office, Horizon Results Platform, and the Booster initiative. Moderated by Gabrijela Radić (European IP Helpdesk), the conversation explored global perspectives on turning research outcomes into societal impact - with ILI bringing a fresh and forward-looking viewpoint.

Bruno highlighted how impact licensing enables IP owners to repurpose technologies for social good, by facilitating access to innovations that can improve lives in underserved markets. He explained ILI’s role in identifying promising technologies and connecting them with partners who can deploy them in ventures that prioritise sustainability, inclusion, and purpose. To bring this concept to life, Bruno shared practical examples that helped the audience better understand how impact licensing can work in real world settings - across sectors such as health, the environment, and beyond. His contribution underscored how intellectual assets can be transformed into tools for meaningful societal benefit.

The event underscored both the importance of these conversations and the strong drive to work together across countries to turn inclusive innovation into action. As the EU-13 Roadshow continues across other widening countries, ILI looks forward to deepening these dialogues and forging new partnerships that bring purpose-driven innovation to life.
