Highlights From the WAITRO Summit 2024: Impact Licensing as a Strategic Instrument for Sustainable Solutions
The World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations (WAITRO) invited Johan Moyersoen, the Coordinator of the Impact Licensing Initiative (ILI) to deliver a keynote presentation titled “Impact Licensing as a Strategic Instrument for Sustainable Technology Transfer for the UN Sustainable Development Goals” on the first day of the WAITRO Summit 2024, held in Nanjing, China, from November 13-15, 2024.
The conference brought together the global innovation-to-impact community from all continents. ILI, along with Red Cross Flanders, was also invited to present in a breakout session “Disaster Resilient Cities” organised by “The Scientific and Technological Research Institution of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), discussing how impact licensing can serve as a tool to provide access to critical technologies during regional crises. The conference offered ILI valuable opportunities to expand its outreach, explore partnerships with leading research centres in Europe and beyond, and establish strategic connections with key organisations focused on sustainable technology transfer, such as the UN Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries.
