Help Shape the Future of EU Knowledge Valorisation Policy – Participate in the EC Survey

As part of our ongoing engagement with European knowledge valorisation policy, the Impact Licensing Initiative (ILI) is pleased to disseminate an open survey launched by the European Commission on the uptake of the Codes of Practice on Knowledge Valorisation.

These Codes offer practical guidance for turning research results into societal and economic value and cover four essential areas: management of intellectual assets, standardisation, citizen engagement, and industry-academia co-creation. At ILI, we view these Codes as a valuable reference point for initiatives like ours, which aim to develop and promote hybrid models of innovation, such as impact licensing, that balance commercial and societal goals.

The Commission is now gathering insights from a wide range of research and innovation actors to better understand how the Codes are being used in practice and where further support is needed. The survey results will help inform future actions and policies, including new training schemes, capacity-building efforts, and awareness-raising initiatives across the European Research Area.

Who should participate?

The survey is open to:

  • Researchers and scientists
  • Innovation and knowledge transfer professionals
  • Entrepreneurs and private investors
  • Research managers and policymakers
  • Universities, spin-offs, startups, and organisations facilitating uptake of innovation

Whether you work in academia, industry, civil society, or government, your input can help shape a more inclusive and effective valorisation ecosystem in Europe.

Deadline: The survey is open until 16 June 2025

We encourage members of our Community of Practice and the wider ILI network to contribute. This is a direct opportunity to help align future EU policy with the real needs and practices of those working on the ground to unlock the full value of research and innovation.
