First TT4I Partnership Established in Türkiye with ÜSİMP
The Impact Licensing Initiative (ILI) has taken an important step in building the Tech Transfer Facilities for Impact (TT4I) network with the signing of a collaboration agreement with ÜSİMP (University Industry Cooperation Centers Platform). Through this partnership, TT4I ÜSİMP Türkiye is established as one of the first facilities in the emerging TT4I network, marking the transition from concept to implementation of impact-driven technology transfer.
The TT4I network is designed as a coordinated infrastructure of independent intermediary organisations that facilitate impact licensing between technology holders and organisations deploying technologies in societal markets. With TT4I ÜSİMP Türkiye, the first cohort of facilities begins to take shape, working closely with the project team to apply the Impact Licensing framework in practice, including identifying and screening technologies, supporting licensing processes, and enabling their deployment in new and underserved markets.
As a national platform connecting universities and industry collaboration centres, ÜSİMP brings a strong ecosystem perspective to the network. In this role, TT4I ÜSİMP Türkiye will act as a broker across its network, focusing on the screening of technologies and the structuring of licensing pathways that support their deployment in societal markets. The collaboration supports both the commercialisation of technologies and their application in ways that generate measurable impact, including in contexts aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), least developed countries (LDCs), and humanitarian settings.
The establishment of TT4I ÜSİMP Türkiye represents a first concrete step in developing a broader European and international TT4I network. In 2026, further TT4I hubs are expected to be established across different regions, contributing to a coordinated infrastructure for responsible and impact-oriented technology transfer.
Special thanks to Prof. Dr. Fazilet Vardar Sukan for her leadership within ÜSİMP and coordination of the collaboration, and to Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, as a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Impact Licensing Initiative, for his support in enabling this partnership.
